Dorset & Wilts RFU U20s Assessment Day 3rd September 2017

Dear clubs,

Dorset & Wilts RFU U20s are happy to inform you that we will be running an Assessment Day on Sunday 3rd September 2017 at Bryanston School (Blandford Forum DT11 0PX) for existing and new potential players for the upcoming season’s squad.

Last season D&W U20s reached the final of Jason Leonard National County Championships, after a hard fought game against Cheshire we eventually finished runners up. On top of this, six of our squad were invited to England U20s South West County trails resulting in three of the six being selected to train with the South West squad. After a lot of hard work in the South West Camp one of our players was selected to Tour Holland with the England Counties U20s squad, a fabulous achievement that we are very proud of. The reason I have mentioned these successes is to provide you and your club with confidence and awareness of our U20s programme. We pride ourselves on player development by giving players within our counties the opportunity to play high level competitive rugby. This was evident last season as we played fixtures against the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force U23 squads in preparation for our county championships, these fixtures are now an annual arrangement.

The day will start at 10:00am and will finish no later than 3:00pm– the day will consist of theory sessions including concussion protocol and strength & conditioning practices and guidance. There will also be a fitness assessment, as well practical elements including conditioned games alongside technical and tactical practices. Throughout the day players will be given opportunities to show their skill set and abilities. There will be a sports therapist on site on the day to help with any concerns either existing or that may occur on the assessment. Please note that a sports therapist is a service that is available to squad players at every training session and game.

If you have any players that may be interested in this fantastic opportunity and would like to test their skills and play at the next level then county rugby is definitely the next step. If interested please get in contact with the team managers.

Mike or Richard

We look forward to seeing you on the day.
