Exciting opportunity to help identify the talent for the Dorset and Wilts County Squads

Dorset and Wilts RFU have managed to secure the services of an RFU Area Player Development Officer to lead a Talent Identification Aspirational Programme - South West Division.

Rugby Players Talent Identification Course.

This course is designed for attendees to better understand how the selection process is applied and gain knowledge of the rugby players pathway, for our D&W’s boys, girls, men and women for selection into our County Teams from Under 15 to Seniors. This course is not a formal CPD activity.

The course is free, but we expect those who wish to attend to commit to assist selectors with a number of player assessment activities each year.

Once registered, you will be part of a team who select our county squads,  you can then work to achieve higher levels of players assessment for Divisional Teams then on to National Level.

To become a players assessor, it would help if you have been a player, team manager and/or coach but, importantly have a good understanding of the game and a willingness to commit to help develop our County Squads. You must be a good communicator and be able to provide positive and credible feedback on player performance.

When:

The course will take place at Salisbury RFC on Friday 20th October - Arrive 1800 Hrs (tea and coffee provided).

What:

The course will consist of two modules-

Module (1) home study – candidates read course booklet and fill out quiz prior to the face to face meeting and bring examples of philosophy etc to module two

Module (2) 3 hours trainer led course- Delivered by an RFU Area Player Development Officer. This will have emphasis on lively discussion, active learning and achieving a consistent approach.

Following on from the course you will be allocated some events to help alongside experienced players assessors to learn by experience.

We would like to see applications from across the game including men, women and any previous players assessors who want to return to selection duties.

Please apply by email including a short description of your experience to Gordon Harding (gordonharding@tfl.gov.uk) by 1st October 2017.
