“ I am just taking the opportunity as Christmas rapidly approaches on behalf of Dorset & Wilts RFU to thank all our many volunteers for your continued and in many cases over and above contribution and efforts in what can only be described as something of an unique year.
When the pandemic got a grip back in March and last season was brought to a sudden end I am not sure many of us were anticipating that as 2020 draws to a close that the world at large would still be in the position we find ourselves. Similarly when I was privileged to take over the Presidency at (the very first ever!) on line AGM in July I probably did not imagine that the first six months of the year would pan out quite like it has!
The CB’s role is something of the go between with our clubs at one end and the RFU at the other end of the spectrum and I think we are all aware over the year of the many stresses and strains that have been experienced by all concerned.
Nevertheless a huge amount of work has gone in to ensuring that as far as possible the administration and development of rugby in our two counties continues in a positive and supportive manner to maintain us in as good a position as possible going forward .
As we move in to 2021 and the return of competitive rugby ( maybe not entirely as we know it!) there will clearly be many more challenges to be faced by all but I am sure our local rugby community will rise to this with your continued assistance and guidance.
So once again many thanks to all volunteers whatever your contribution, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all and most importantly that you and your families remain safe and healthy.
Mike
