Following approval by RFU Council on Friday 11 June, there are several critical changes to Regulation 9 and the associated guidelines for the 2021/2022 season. These have been included in recent Community Game Updates.
Regulation 9.3 now states that:
• Clubs must complete a risk assessment and ensure an appropriate level of immediate care and/or first aid cover.
• Equipment is in place for the rugby activity to take place as determined by the risk assessment.
We continue to highly recommended that clubs and other rugby activity providers comply with the RugbySafe First Aid/Immediate Care Provision Guidelines.
The Community Rugby Pitch-side First Aid and Immediate Care Provision Guidelines, which you can view on the link below, provide guidance and information for clubs and other rugby activity organisers on the recommended pitch-side provision for first aid/immediate care provision for training and matches across the different levels and age-groups in the community game. The document also includes information on first aid qualification requirements, facilities and equipment.
A webinar hosted last night (Wednesday 30 June) is now available on-demand below. The one hour session covers a number of topics in the area, including the pitch-side provision guidelines, information on organising EFARU courses, first aid specific risk assessments and examples of good practice within clubs.
The Community Rugby Pitch-side First Aid and Immediate Care Provision Guidelines are part of a new look RugbySafe resources toolkit. All the resources will be available by mid-August, ready for the new season. The toolkit will be available on the RugbySafe homepage
